07/13/2024 – Day 041 – Isaiah – Chapters 29 – 31 / Nope – this sinful world will not pick up on this truth… / Sermon: “Where is heaven, and what is it like.” / Book: “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn
Posts for the last two cycles for day 041 are dated: 04/19/2022 and 07/11/2020, in case you want to pull them up on a quick search. I will of course be covering new ground in this post.
All too often, I have a bad habit of skipping over amazing short verses:
“The work of righteousness will be peace. And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.” Isaiah 32:17
Check out my Evidence Bible footnote on this verse, consisting of two parts:
‘32:17 The truth of this may not find full realization in this sinful world, but it certainly will be in the next. We await a new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. That sounds boring to a sin-loving world that finds excitement in iniquity. However, who in his right mind wouldn’t like a world with no hatred, murder, rape, wars, theft, and lying. Sin leaves humanity without a right mind…”
And for an illustration of this madness, this quote:
“I don’t believe in an afterlife, so I son’t have to spend my whole life fearing hell, or fearing heaven even more. For whatever the tortores of hell, I think the boredom of heaven would be even worse.” Isaac Asimov
This is an exception in that I am posting a link to a sermon that I haven’t personally yet listened to. This one runs over one hour from John MacArthur, titled: “Where is heaven, and What is it Like?”. Try it for just 10 minutes and see if Pastor John doesn’t draw you in.
or, a book I personally vouch for as one of my all-time favorites:
Randy Alcorn’s “Heaven”:
Soli Deo Gloria!
