Commentary from “The Evidence Study Bible – NKJV”:
1:15 Jesus preached repentance because His hearers knew the Law. Since he was sent to ‘the lost sheep of the house of Israel’ (Matthew 15:24), His ministry was originally confined to Jews. The Scriptures often use the phrase ‘to the Jew first.’ Romans 3: 1,2 tells us that Jews had the advantage of having the Law of God. They know what sin was, and therefore understood their need for repentance. Those without a knowledge of sin (which only the Law can bring — see Romans 7:7) need to hear the message of the Law before they are able (with God’s help) to repent.”

I heartily repeat my recommendation of 05/09/21 of Tim Keller’s book: “Jesus the King”, which is essentially a commentary on the Gospel of Mark. I bought the audio book and listened to it cover to cover multiple times. With the book, I may have been through it as many as five times.

In the post for Day 071, dated 05/09/2021, our first cycle on this blog, we covered “Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralytic.” (2: 1 – 12)

Soli Deo Gloria!
