02/04/2021 – Day 263 – Psalms 111 – 113 – Praise to God for His Faithfulness and Justice/ The Blessed State of Righteousness / The Majesty of the Condescension of God.
Once again. we are reminded of the key of the “fear of the Lord.”
- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10)
- “Blessed in the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.” (Psalm 112:1)
“I was alive without the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived” (Romans 7:9) So it is with the work-righteous and the proud unbelievers. Because they do not know the Law of God, which is directed against them, it is impossible for them to know their sin. Therefore also they are not amenable to instruction. If they would know the Law, they would also know their sin; and sin to which they are now dead would become alive in them..” Martin Luther
Psalm 113:3: “Blessed be the name of the Lord . From this time forth and forevermore!”
“After the Declaration of Independence was being signed, Samuel Adams stated, ‘We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven and from the rising to the setting of the sun, Let his kingdom come.” footnote in my Bible to this verse.
Finally, how better off we would be if we would bind this verse on our foreheads: “He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” Psalm 112:7 It might help if we turn away from our tv and our cellphone , be silent, and listen for His voice. For we are barraged with evil tidings in our world today.
Soli Deo Gloria!
