  1. From “The Evidence Bible – NKJV” commentary, amazing indeed:

11:35 – In one sense, this verse is a mystery because Jesus knew what He was about to do. He was above to give Mary and Martha the greatest gift, outside of salvation, that they could ever hope for. Yet, He wept.

The prophets tell us that the Messiah would be a ‘Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief’ (Isaiah 53:3). He was moved with compassion for the multitudes, wept over Jerusalem, and knew what was to ‘weep with those who weep’ (Romans 12:15). Even though heaven is before us, it pains the head of the Body when the foot hurts. Jesus is a High Priest who could ‘sympathize with our weaknesses’ (Hebrews 4:15).”

The Triumphal Entry:

2. Also from “The Evidence Bible – NKJV” commentary:

12:14 Instead of riding triumphantly through the streets of Jerusalem on a kingly white stallion, Jesus chose to ride on a young donkey, a lowly beast of burden. Imagine how humbling it would be for the president of the United States to ride through New York on the back of a donkey. But this is what the King of kings did. This time He came in lowliness, humbling Himself and becoming obedient to the death of the cross. The next time he will come in flaming fire, on a white horse with ten thousands of His saints.”

Soli Deo Gloria!
