03/08/2021 – Day 295 – Acts 9 & 10 // The Trinity at work in redemption.
10:38 – as Peter preached to Cornelius’ household, my footnote to this verse reads as follows:
“In every phase of the redemption, each Person of the Godhead is directly involved. Their involvement in each successive phase may be set out as follows:
- Incarnation. The Father incarnated the Son in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit. (See Luke 1:35)
- Baptism in the Jordan. The Spirit descended on the Son, and the Father spoke His approval from heaven. (see Matt 3: 14-17)
- Public ministry. The Father anointed the Son with the Spirit (See Acts 10:38)
- The crucifixion. Jesus offered Himself to the Father through the Spirit (see Hebrews 9:14)
- The resurrection. The Father resurrected the Son by the Spirit (see Acts 2:32; Romans 1:4)
- Pentecost. From the Father the Son received the Spirit, whom He then poured out on His disciples (see Acts 2:33).”
“Each person of the Godhead – and I mean this reverently – was jeolous to be included in the process of redeeming humanity.” Derek Prince, Atonement
And let’s look at 9:31 – Fear of the Lord: “Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.”
And my footnote on this verse:
“The fear of the Lord involves a sober awareness of what He loves, of what He despises, and of the consequences of disobediance and rebellion against Him. It leads to a sincere desire to please Him, hearfelt gratefulness for His mercy, and unending delight in His loving presence. So when we choose to ‘fear the Lord’ we will heed Romans 12:9, ‘Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good’ “” Berit Kjos
