You Can’t Play Yourself

A musical instrument that tries to use itself for its own purposes is of no value. A flute can’t play itself. A violin can’t bow itself. No instrument can by itself give itself value. But if an instrument is owned and used by a master musician, then everything changes. When the flutist blows his breath through the flute, or the violinist bows the violin, the purpose of the instrument is fulfilled. You are an instrument. If you treat your life as your own possession; something you can use for your own purposes, and you try to give your life meaning, you’ll never do it. You were created by God to be an instrument for His purposes. Therefore you can never find the purpose of your life by yourself. Give yourself to the Master. Let Him use your life. Surrender yourself to His purposes. Let the breath of His Spirit blow through your being. Let the sound of His voice flow through your voice. Let your life be an instrument of His will, and it will be fulfilled. It’ll become an instrument filled with the melody and the symphony of the Master’s love.
