04/30/2026 – 2 of 2 / Nancy and I highly recommend : Ben Sasse’s extended interview on 60 minutes this past Sunday
If you haven’t already seen it. Thankfully, my brother Mike sent me the YouTube link, for 60 minutes has been off my radar screen for decades. Put this text in your YouTube search string:
“Extended Interview: Ben Sasse on Lessons for America”
Ben was diagnosed with metasticized pancreatic cancer this past November. Praise God, he was living past his expected life expectancy at the point of this interview. That in itself is a gift from God to all of us. Prayer: Lord, please keep him around to at least walk his two daughters down the aisle and to see his son graduate from high school. Ben aptly noted that the LORD always has the perfect plan regardless.
To the side: Check out Ben’s 2018 book on Amazon; “The Vanishing American Adult”.
I like Mike Rowe so I will pass on his posted review that I got a kick out of:
“Couple years ago, somebody told me a senator from Nebraska was tweeting about the essential business of castrating bulls. I didn’t know who Ben Sasse was, but I was intrigued by his use of social media. I’ve since met him, and I like him. If you read this book, you will too. It’s excellent. In particular, the “Lessons from the Ranch” section should be required reading for every parent, every child, and every elected official in America. This really is a book for everyone―well, except the bulls.” ―Mike Rowe, Creator and Host of Dirty Jobs
If you hear the interview, you will hear proud Dad Ben beeming with pride as he recounts his daughter’s coming of age through a ranch hand job as a young teenager, tending to baby calves and mothers in the wee hours of the night in the frigid Nebraska temps.
Needless to say, Ben’s prescription for healing in American does not include D.C. at all, but through full fellowship revival engagement in our families; local church communities and communities at-large.
Always connected through prayer and by His grace!
Jimmy
