04/11/2021 – Day 329 – 2 Peter 1 – 3// The “Day in the Lord” section in chapter 3, as in the Zechariah reading yesterday!

This again is an important note on the literal interpretation vs. the figurative interpretation. But bigger picture, it is fascinating and awe inspiring!

Once again I give you John Gill, from verses 10 through 13, the four verse section on “The Day of the Lord.” And beyond it is the five verse conclusion to 2 Peter with “Be Steadfast!”

Also, note, for further study and look-up:

3:3. Re: Signs of the end times , Key scriptural references include: Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21; 1 Timothy 4; and 2 Timothy 3.

A supporting footnote to 3:8: “Because God is eternal and dwells outside of the dimension of time, one day and a thousand years are the same to Him. In a similar way, a person who is in space, outside of the influence of gravity, will find that one ounce and a thousand pounds are the same.”

And I will give you the verse, 3:16 below then followed by the accompanying footnote in my Bible:

3:16: “as in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of Scriptures.”

3:16 footnote:

“Never feel as though you have to be able to explain every Bible verse. Even Peter admists that some things Paul wrote are hard to understand. In doing so, he also puts his seal of approval on the fact that Paul’s letter were not the mere writing of a man, but are “Scriptures.”

“Try all things by the written Word, and let all bow down before it. You are in danger of [fanaticism] every hour, if you depart ever so little from Scripture; yea, or from the plain, literal meaning of a text, takin in connection with the context.” John Wesley

Soli Deo Gloria!

Blessings on your week ahead; always connected by His grace and through prayer….
