I frequently structure my prayer time using the order of “ACTS” – Adoration; Confession; Thanksgiving; Supplication” (Petition). The Book of Psalms can be prayed. Think about it, we are praying God’s prayers back to Him. Example – For confession: Pray Psalm 51, interspersing your own specific confessions as the Holy Spirit leads you.
Why don’t we pray more often? I’m thinking of the old expression: “If you want to know what a man values, observe where he spends his discretionary time.”
