11/20/2021 – “Responsibilities of Fatherhood” – Deuteronomy 6: 1 – 19 // Embrace the impossible for our God is a God of miracles.

Carl and i were talking about Tony Evans relating how his entire family came to Christ right after his father’s conversion, when he was 11 years old in Baltimore. (re: the movie this week: “Journey with Jesus”) Carl shared with me the following statistics with the article:

“Another survey found that if a child is the first person in a household to become a Christian, there is a 3.5% probability everyone else in the household will follow. If the mother is the first to become a Christian, there is a 17% probability everyone else in the household will follow. However, when the father is first, there is a 93% probability everyone else in the household will follow. “

With Carl’s comment:
“Here’s the point of all these statistics: Dad’s impact on the kids’ faith and practice is HUGE.”

I would submit that the world has changed quite abit in the past 50 years since the Evans family came to Christ. Christian families are being attacked like never before. The remnant body of Christ must establish a supportive base camp, from which to support the community of families. God will deliver us but we must not be passive as men. Just putting our butts in the pew for one hour on Sunday is not going to cut it. The biblical Caleb might be a good role model for us grandfathers; we don’t ever put up our “swords” in this life.

Steps: 1) Family focus; 2) Get involved in an active men’s group – it takes a village. This includes building the base camp, not only for defensive purposes but Gospel outreach locally. Then (3) – link up base camps across local communities. We can do what the Amish do, travel ocassionally to build a barn together. Maybe, we start by gathering together with “40 Days for Life” to pray in front of Planned Parenthood Abortion facilities. “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes; you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13. We serve an Almighty God!

We can’t be Christian warriors without being prayer warriors. Let’s take a hard look again to our “Magna Carta” so to speak, our marching orders as fathers, from Deuteronomy 6: 1-19. I will provide here just verses 4 through 8: The “supreme” commandment followed right behind by our marching orders as fathers:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your strength.

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” (all around the gates of our community base camp)
