02/10/2021 – Gospel of John – Chapter 10 commentary// The agape love of the triune God for us is unfathomable.
“The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it downand authority to take it up again. THis command I receive from the Father.” (John 10:18) We will see that after his arrest and before Pilate, Jesus proclaims to Pilate: “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” (John 18: 36)
Jesus answered: “… I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life , and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” (John 10: 25 -30)
I am back to John Gill’s commentary tonight as he eloquently and sublimely comments on : “no one can snatch us out of Jesus’ hands!” Embrace the joy of His Truth!

Amazing: This accounts for the scene in heaven – Revelation 7: 9 -17 – “The Great Multitude in White Robes”, signifying all the martyrs in the last days before the 2nd coming of Christ. Note that John noted that they “were a great multitude that no one could count” in the first verse of the section! They stand fast by the grace of God, for no one can take them out of Jesus’ hand, not even the Devil and all his evil minions. (Ephesians 6: 10 – 18 – “The armor of God) And sure enough, the last verse in chapter 7 ends with: “For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
And there you have it brothers and sisters in Christ!
Soli Deo Gloria indeed! Always connected by His grace and through prayer!
