03/25/2022 – Day 026 – Job – Chapters 7 & 9 / So, where do we see that Job is sharing in the sufferings of Christ?
Let’s look at Job’s comment in 7:16 to Bildad: ” I despise my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone; my days have no meaning.”
Now , let’s look at John Gill’s commentary on this verse:

So , Yeshua cried out i agony: “My God, why hast thou forsaken me ?” Do you know brothers that I had a Lutheran Missouri Synod sunday school teacher proclaim to our class of 9 – 11 year olds that Yeshua (Jesus) did not actually suffer on the cross ! Yeshua was not losing his faith , He was suffering beyond where any man has or will suffer, for he was taking he full weight of our sin on that cross. Job’s suffering was not of course substituionary atonement for all souls that accept Him fully as our Lord and Savior. But, he was a forerunner for Christ’s suffering, to His glory!
My father, from the WWII generation told me and my siblings that he felt sorry for our baby generation. Why! Because his generation had it tough in their younger years through the Great Depression. But that made them tougher, in facing the challenges of WW2 against the Axis powers. But , we in the baby generation walked into the modern day evil world “soft” , for we had not faced thosed challenges through early life “suffering” . Well, guess what, Job was a guy that may have been been a hard worker, but he was unbelievably blessed before these afflications. So, let’s keep that in mind in our Job study, as we see how he overcomes that “easy life” up to his afflictions by God’s grace. And as for Bildad and his other two “friends” ? They don’t get it!
I enjoy the challenge of this year program of read through the Bible, as always, for the past 30 years or so. But in terms of this blog, it is difficult to cover the breadth of God’s Word in any one day assignment. It is just too rich. So I continue to pray for brothers that will participate in active posting and fellowship so that the body of Christ is strengthened! It will happen! The question is , will we answer His personal call to us to participate? After all, we were born for this time, as I have previously noted.
Soli Deo Gloria!
Love,
Your brother in Christ,
Jimmy
