Exaggerating The Messiah
Wednesday, August 3, 2022
The Koran of Islam is filled with historical errors. One of those amazing errors or statements in the Koran is a statement directed at believers in Yeshua, Jesus. It says, “Oh people of the Scripture do not exaggerate in your religion, the Messiah, Jesus, Son of Mary.” The Koran calls Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, but doesn’t understand what the Messiah is. The Messiah is the one who reconciles man to God. Messiah is the one who becomes a light to the nations. Messiah is the one who brings peace, first spiritually, then physically to the world; who will make the lion and the calf lie down together, who will usher in the Kingdom and reign upon the throne of David. Messiah is the one who redeems us for everlasting joy. So you, people of Scripture, followers of the Anointed One, the Messiah, don’t stop lifting up the Lord. You can’t speak enough about Him. You can’t praise Him enough. You can’t rejoice enough about Him. You can’t lift Him up enough. Don’t worry about exaggerating the Messiah. You couldn’t if you wanted to. He is just too great. He’s the Messiah. From Message #984 – The Secret of Islam
Scripture: Hebrews 13:15-16
TODAY’S MISSION – Praise Messiah all through the day, lift Him up in prayer, sing His praises with a joyful heart, share this Messiah with others; again I say, rejoice!

My general conviction: We should look at fellow souls as either current Christians or future Christians. God chooses us, we don’t choose Him. Jesus’ Great Commission is not an option, it is a command. So, my walk suggests I believe that it all urgently depends on me the messenger, even though none of it does. It is just a blessing that God gives us to come alongside the Holy Spirit.
Many years ago, I remember a luncheon I had with a beloved Muslem colleague Khan at work. We talked nothing outside of sharing of our faith. I coincidentily had at the time, just recently taken a course at our church on “how to evangelize Muslems”. One of the key recommendations from the presenter(s) was to avoid getting into discussions about the trinity in the early stages. Well, it was a good course, but I ignored that core recommendation. Khan told me Massih (Jesus) did not die on the cross, as Allah took him up and an imposter died in his place. It’s funny, the Holy Spirit told me not to confront him on that, not at least in that first meeting. But I did explain why our belief in the Holy Trinity was not polytheism, adding Paul’s comment from one of his gospels: “If we Christians are wrong, we are the most pathetic creatures that ever walked the planet.”
Notes:
- Tied to Paul’s comment: You can have a unipersonal god that is all powerful, but not all-loving, because love is by definition relational. So, if we better be wrong for those that die without accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, for that would be missing out entirely from the unfathomable joy of heaven forever.
- Muslems believe in the virgin birth, which is interesting because roughly half of modern day self professed Chrstians, don’t… (I’m thinking of the famous Barna Christian worldview survey years back)
- If you ask them, Muslems do not express assurance that they are going to “paradise”.
- Muslems do not believe in original sin, nor do they believe that we are image bearers of God.
- Muslems believe that Massih (Jesus) will come back at their version of a 2nd coming, but again, he is not The Savior, or God. He is described as a great prophet, which to me presents a dilemma. He and his followers proclaimed him as Divine Savior, “Emmanuel”. So, wouldn’t he have to be either correct , a liar, or insane? The comeback is: “Our Bible is corrupted.” But even if that is so, how could he be a great prophet if his disciples proclaimed heresies about him, even through their martyrdom , in the case of ten of the eleven. How many men will sacrifice their lives for what they know is a lie?
- Why don’t Muslems evangelize what they believe is the truth? So, one just focuses on being “good enough” to get to paradise and hopes for the best?
- I believe we should emphasize : Just as God is unfathomably powerful, He is unfathomably Holy and all-loving. So , therefore, God had to die for us to atone for our sin, for God cannot accept sin, it is counter to His perfect Holy nature. I’ve heard some souls from various faiths argue that subsitutionary atonement doesn’t make any sense. But, I submit it is constantly amongst us in our lives to witness, albeit in less of a critical life or death proposition. As Timothy Keller noted in his book, “Jesus the King”, look at the parent that reads that favorite book to his/her child over and over, or answers that same old question for what seems to be the hundredth time. They can opt not to spend that time with the child, but somebody is going to pay the price for that ill-advised choice, be it the child or society at large.
