09/17/2022 – Chapter Four Discussion – “An irrefutable logical proof of its Truth.” / 1 of 2 – a proposed clear distinction between: “pleasure; happiness; and, joy”

Premise: Our society blurs the distinction between these words: 1). Pleasure ; 2) Happiness; and, 3) Joy

So, I would like to share my “rough draft” to draw a clear distinction between the three. In other words, there is no intersection between these three words, one word suffices in all cases. I am picking this up from the last paragraph of pg. 31.

Sorry, due to the lack of tabs in wordpress, I can’t build the table the way I want it.

Time frame:

  1. Momentary / 2. Temporary, not extending after death / 3. Eternal – The Kingdom of God *

* The “Kingdom” includes this world within the body of Christ.

Boundaries:

1. self gratifying only / 2. shared experience with other souls / 3. Emanates from the Triune God as the source and at its center. It extends beyond a point or span in time.

Context with respect to desire:

  1. Within known desires with no tribulation prior to experience / 2. Within known desires only and is likely to include at least some tribulation. (i.e. – work in reaching a goal). / 3. Outside of known desires, unfathomable.

Can it be lost?

  1. Yes / 2. Yes / 3. Never

Thoughts? I don’t think I will consider it to close to completion without help.

Ok, I’ll move on for now to part 2 of 2 on this fourth chapter, a summary pass at the chapter.

Soli Deo Gloria!
