Apologies! – I jumped a week ahead on day 060. So, today, Aug 25th is day 085 – Mark 5-6.
Thanks to brother Carl! He pointed it out when he was setting a brother to receive automatic daily emails which show the read assignment for the day, including the ability to read the verses from his phone. I would have missed seven days as I skipped on day 060 Psalms 24 – 26 to day 067 instead.
This is going to work out well for this coming Saturday will be our first read into Jeremiah 1-6 for our extended study and invitation to those brothers that want to concentrate on just one day per week, with more in depth research and group sharing. If you haven’t read and prayed through Jeremiah before, you will know more on why. The evil of Jeremiah’s day is just too strikingly familiar to our day today. On that note I will close with this quote:
“The more we know about the ancients, the more we find that they were like the moderns.” Henry David Thoreau
So, let’s put ourselves in the shoes of prophet Jeremiah who fought hard for the Lord, when seemingly no one else was in Jerusalem. It all points to Yeshua, for all good things come from God but it serves us well to focus on mentors, the messengers and imitators of Christ. And even their flaws: As Pastor Alistair Begg noted in a recent 1 Samuel sermon commenting on a flawed moment for David: “When you come down to it, the best of men are men at best.” But, once again, all things are possible with God!
Always connected through prayer and by His grace! Blessings indeed; Soli Deo Gloria!
