I would urge you to click on the link to John MacArthur’s sermon in text format: “The Purpose of the Law” covering our study of Galations 3. I trust you will find yourself rewarded for the investment in time, of say 15 minutes on a cursory read.

Bullet points – Other:

  • Galations 1:8: “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”
  • And followed with the following quote from Charles Spurgeon: “Avoid a sugared gospel as you would shun sugar of lead. Seek that gospel which rips up and tears and cuts and wounds and hacks and even kills, for that is the gospel that makes alive again. And when you have found it, give good heed to it. Let it enter into your inmost being. As the rains soaks into the ground, so pray the Lord to let His gospel soak into your soul.”
  • And Paul writes in 3:13: “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.’)
  • See Deuteronomy 21: 22-23: “If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.”
