Proverbs 7:1-3 is a call to obedience.
My son, keep my words and treasure up my commandments with you; keep my commandments and live; keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
    Proverbs 7:1‭-‬3 ESV

Lest we think this think this is a one time call to obey let’s look at some other verses like John 3:36 which is one of the most clear signs of a Christian.

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
    John 3:36 ESV

Yet there is tension. It’s by grace we are saved!

Back to proverbs, we treasure up God’s command by being in his word regularly.

Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord.
    Psalm 32:10 ESV
