01/28/2020 – Day 256 – Psalm 108 – 110 – “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?”
Once again Yeshua quizzes the Pharisees on the Old Testament scripture and they back themselves into a corner that they can’t escape from. The verse Yeshua cites is Psalm 110:1: “The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
Reference Matthew 22:41-45
So Yeshua asks them this question: “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” He said to the, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,” saying: “The Lord said to my Lord Sit at my right hand, Till I make your enemies Your footstool”? If David then calls Him ‘Lord”,how is He his son?” And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore. (As in: “No mas!” )
In Psalm 109:24, this one really caught my eye in another Psalmof David titled “Plea for Judgment of False Accusers” :
“My knees are weak through fasting. And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.”
As I have mentioned before, David and his warriors were akin to our modern day SEALs and then some as they were under full grace, not just common grace. You could certainly get the “big head” , but here is David weak from all the fasting that accompanies his prayer for rescue from his enemies. He had a heart for God, not the least of which was that he had a humble heart and our readings have touched often on the importance of both prayer and a humble heart. Lead by example!
Soli Deo Gloria!
