02/11/2021 – Day 270 – Psalms 114 – 116 // 116:15 “Precious in the sights of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
When you do a www.duckduckgo.com search on “Psalm 116 commentary”, it is amazing the choices that come up. Not only Matthew Henry and Charles Spurgeon that I have referenced multiples times, but also John Gill in this case, and many others. I chose this verse because to me, it was the hardest verse on the surface for me to sing God’s praises to. But hold on Jimmy! This commentary ends on such a sublime high note of inspiration and joy.

John Gill was an English Baptist preacher that lived from 1697 – 1771. He preached in the same church as Spurgeon, except 100 years earlier. He was staunchly Calvinist in his Soteriology. (defined as the branch of theology dealing with the nature and means of salvation)
Here is another link that will let you drill to a specific verse of his commentary. Can you imagine writing a commentary on every single verse in the Bible. It is amazing what Christian warriors accomplish in a full lifetime.
