03/29/2022 – Babylon Bee: “Elijah criticized by Israel for unloving satire toward the prophets of baal.”
Soli Deo Gloria! God has a sense of humor, so I am thankful for Babylon Bee. But He is a God of justice: “If you abandon the Lord and worship foreign gods, He will turn against you, harm you, and completely destroy you, after He has been good to you.” (our reading for today: Joshua 24: 29 *) So, within the remnant body of Christ in this evil time, are we to get discouraged? Of course not!, we were born for this, fulfilling an opportunity to give glory of God amidst the suffering. The remnant church will proliferate before end times from the martyrdom of His saints across the globe.
I recall years ago, our sunday school teacher proclaimed: “some of us in this church think the U.S.A. is an extension of the covenant people of Israel”. And then he looked right at me. This was one ocassion where the Holy Spirit instructed me to be quiet. But I would’ve asked him about the plethora of illustrations in the Bible where prophet messengers to the Lord prophesied impending judgment to pagan nations. (Isaiah 34 as just one example, verse 2: “The Lord is angry with all the nations…” )
