04/29/2021 – Day 347 – Psalm 143 – 145 // “I believe the holier a man becomes, the more he mourns over the unholiness which remains in him.” Charles Spurgeon
The Apostle Paul is an excellent example of this quote from Spurgeon: In Romans, “oh why do I do what I know is wrong, woe is me” (paraphrased) Even rebellious teenage sons like me were and are very worried about disappointing their father.
143:5 – “I remember the days of old, I meditate on all Your works. I muse on the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land.” Selah
And as always, a winsome on target commentary from John Gill. And in this case, very simple. (not always so there with John Gill – lol, but I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
Psalm 145 – As I have mentioned before , this is in my my prayers every night before retiring; it is one of my 24 memory verses, the entire chapter which takes up over five index cards. Why? It is the first letter in the Prayer acronym components, listed in a preferable order, perhaps: “ACTS” = Adoration / Confession / Thanks / Supplication.
Blessings. Soli Deo Gloria!
Love,
Jimmy
