08/09/2021 – Hymn: “Be Still, My Soul”

This hymn (link below) dates back three or four centuries. It is mentioned in Duncan Hamilton’s “For the Glory” – The untold and inspiring story of Eric Liddell, hero of Chariots of Fire. It was Eric’s favorite, and appropriately, it was sung at his funeral, at Weihsien, the Civilian Internment Camp in China just before the end of WWII and the liberation of the Camp. At the time of his death, Eric had been separated from his beloved wife Florence and their three daughters for over four years. He would never see his youngest daughter Maureen, who was born in Toronto. The hymn is so appropriate to the sacrificial walk of this family, to His glory! The Holy Spirit was and is with them always!

I just couldn’t put the book down this weekend. Blessings! Soli Deo Gloria!
