11/29/2023 – Praying Psalm 143 – A Davidic psalm, “A Cry for Help”.

David’s concluding verse: “and in Your faithful love destroy my enemies,. Wipe out all those who attack me, for I am Your servant.” Psalm 143:12

And here is the footnote in my Apologetics Study Bible for that verse:

“The translation sounds contradictory: ‘in Your faithful love destroy my enemies.’ This is the word hesed, meaning God’s faithfulness or loyalty to His covenant with Israel. Under the covenant, which is like a treaty, the Lord has ‘contracted’ to defend His people and destroy the wicked. His hesed is the basis on which the worshipper, faithful in turn to the Lord, can appeal for His help.”

The prayer , in trust and faith, is a transformation to an “undisturbed spirit” by His grace. (See previous post). Again, the Bible says David had a “heart for God”.

Soli Deo Gloria!
