Well, I can’t pass on posting commentary on this day, even though we have three prior cycle posts for this day that I encourage y’all to check out: 03/05/2021; 11/27/2021; and 12/16/2022. Chapter 31 covers the blessings of our wives. Chapter 31 in the Evidence Study Bible – NKJV is titled: “The Word’s of King Lemuel’s Mother.” Verse 1 starts us out with: “The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him.”, indeed, a wise woman, a messenger to the hand of the Lord.

I would like to share with you the Questions & Objections commentary section from verse 31:10 of the Evidence Study Bible:

“31:10 “Christianity oppresses women by making them submit to their husbands!”

“The Bible does say, “Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord,’ but it also instructs, ‘Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.” (Ephesians 5: 22,25). A man who understand that Jesus Christ sacrificed His life’s blood for the Church will likewise love his wife sacrificially and passionately. He will honor her, respect her, protect love, and cherish her as much as he does his own body., as he is instructed to do (Ephesians 5:28). He will never say or do anything to hard or demean her. It is in this atmosphere of love and security that a godly wife willingly submits herself the to the protective arms of her husband. She does this not because he is better than she, but simply because this is God’s order for His creation. (*A)

[(*A) Insert Jimmy comment: We are told in His Word that Jesus submitted to His Father, but note – Jesus is coeternal and co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit thereby “The Trinity” – three persons – One God in an eternal dance of perfect agape love. And how is it we got an invitation to join this eternal dance? (Unfathomably sublime!)]

A godless world rejects the God-given formula for making marriage work. It thinks it knows best , and suffers the heartbreaking consequences of destroyed marriages and ruined lives. The Christian ideal of marriage is not an authoritarian and chauvinistic males holding his cringing wife in submission like an obedient dog. It’s the very opposite. While most of the great religions treat women as inferior to men, the Bible gives them a place of dignity , honor, and unspeakable worth, expressed so evidently in Proverbs 31….”

Soli Deo Gloria!
