What is intercessory prayer?:

https://www.gotquestions.org/intercessory-prayer.html

An excerpt:

“A wonderful model of intercessory prayer is found in Daniel 9. It has all the elements of true intercessory prayer. It is in response to the Word (v. 2); characterized by fervency (v. 3) and self-denial (v. 4); identified unselfishly with God’s people (v. 5); strengthened by confession (v. 5-15); dependent on God’s character (vv. 4, 7, 9, 15); and has as its goal God’s glory (vv. 16-19)…”

Comments:

Pray that we integrate all these elements in our individual and communal prayers!

I haven’t read this book yet, but what a title! : “The Prayer that Turns the World Upside Down: The Lord’s Prayer as a Manifesto for Revolution by Albert Mohler, Jr.” As one commentator noted, “we die spiritually if we stop praying.”

Element #1: Response to His Word regarding prayer specifically: Do we really believe what we say we believe is really true? It hit me when I read this and it stuck by God’s grace: If I did, wouldn’t I be praying more often and fervently?

(See the 17 bible verses on prayer, posted on 12/05/2025, all coalescing around: “ask and it shall be given to you”. What does that tell us? )

Note – “Strengthened by confession”, 11 verses, the longest element.

The “ACTS” acronym for a suggested order for prayer: Adoration; Confession; Thanksgiving; Supplication (or Petition), not to interfere I submit with Holy Spirit driven intervention.

Soli Deo Gloria!
