04/02/2021 – Day 320 – Ecclesiastes 7 – 8 // The Value of Practical Wisdom
“How you believe God perceives people will determine how you respond to them.” Jacquelyn K. Heasley
Not many many in our society today, would buy into verse 7:3: “Sorrow is better than laughter”, but let’s look at John Gill’s commentary:

7:15: “I have seen everything in my days of vanity: There is a just man who perishes in his righteousness, And there is a wicked man who prolongs life in his wickedness.”
Here is how Matthew Henry weighs in on the this verse:
“The calamities of the righteous are preparing them for their future blessedness, and the wicked are are but ripening for ruin.. There is judgment to come, which will rectify this seeming irregularity, and must wait with patience till then.”
Or similarly : 8:12; “Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged , yet I surely know that it may be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.”
To which Henry notes: “…He shall fall short of everlasting life, and then his long life on earth will be worth little.
Soli Deo Gloria!
