So, as I noted recently, we would do well to focus on warrior mentors who appear “way over our heads”. “Scratch, claw and keep reaching, until the good Lord brings you home! This is to me a secret to success for the SEALs, be they current Christians or future Christians. Immerse youself in the inspiring amidst the pervasive evil of our day. The kingdom of God is now so start with the indwelling Holy Spirit within you!

p.s. – if you prefer watching to reading, may I suggest the 2012 movie “Lincoln” played by Daniel Day Lewis.

p.s.s. – And you know what, as long as I am sharing on Lincoln, I must share also a story on Lincoln that I ran into amidst my routine Corinthians research work this past weekend. The verses covered are 1 Corinthains 13: 4-7 and here is the story:

“In our dealings with men, however refractory and however unkins and hurting they are, we must exercise the same patience as God exercises with us. Such patience is not the sign of weakness but the sign of strength, it is not defeatism but rather the only way to victory. Foskick points out that no one treated Lincoln with more contempt that did Stanton. He called him a ‘low cunning clown’ , he nicknamed him ‘the original gorilla’ and said that Du Chaillu was a fool to wanted about Africa trying to capture a glorilla when he could have found one so easily at Springfield, Illinois. Lincoln said nothing. He made Stanton his war minister because he was the best man for the job and he treated him with every courtesy. The years wore on. The night came when the assaain’s bullet murdered Lincoln in the theatre. In the little room to which the President’s body was taken stood that same Stanton, and looking down on Lincoln’s silent face, he said through his tears, “There lies the greatest ruler of men the world has ever seen.” The patience of love had conquered in the end.”

I would submit the highest calling we can attain in this world is as a “Christ imitator” through the suffering!

Soli Deo Gloria!
