The Doer of our Deeds
Tuesday, August 16, 2022
The story of Joseph reveals him as a foreshadow of Messiah. Genesis 39:22 says, “when he was put into prison, he was made leader of it; responsible for whatever was done there.” In Hebrew it reads, whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it. It’s ultimately the foreshadow of Messiah; of salvation. Messiah became the doer of our deeds. Whatever we did in sin, He became the doer of it. It was imputed to Him. It’s amazing; He became as the doer of our deeds…a perfect foreshadow. He became as the doer of our sins that we would become the doer of His righteousness. Our deeds were imputed to Him, but now His deeds can be imputed to us. Let His good deeds become your good deeds. Let His righteousness become yours. Just as your sins became His, now let His deeds of love, and His actions of compassion become yours, for He became the doer of our sins that we would become the doer of His righteousness. Let the work of Messiah come through you now. Let it be counted as yours as you do the work of the Lord. From Message #1002 – Lord of the Dungeon

Recall = Genesis 50: 16 – 21: When Joseph’s brother sent him a message begging for their forgiveness for selling him off to slavery, he responded, v 20: “You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result — the survival of many people.” Joseph, the foreshadow of Christ, the suffering servant… And once again we come directly into the central theme of Peter Kreeft’s “How to Be Holy”, our upcoming book study: Romans 8:28: “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.”
