09/28/2022 – Day 213 – 2 Kings Ch. 21 – 25 // The Fall of Jerusalem – God says “enough”!
Chapter 21 – Manasseh King of Judah:
My Apologetics Study Bible footnotes point out Manasseh’s evil was so hideous that he led the people to do even more evil than the worst of the pagan nations that God had them destroy. (verse 9). He sacrificed his own son in the fire. (verse 6). Doesn’t America today resemble Judah in Manasseh’s day? The Lord says in verse 14: “I will forsake the remnant of my inheritance and hand them over to their enemies.
Chapter 22 – The Book of the Law Found
Josiah was chosen king at eight years old after the murder of evil king Amon. In his 31 year old reign, what a faithful turnaround it was by Josiah when they found “The Book of the Law”! I really took notice that Josiah did not have the temple contracts account for the money entrusted to them, because they acted faithfully. Due to his a responsive heart and humbling himself before the Lord, God promised to “gather him to his fathers and that he would be buried in peace.”
Chapter 23 – Josiah Renews the Covenant
Josiah desecrated the high places where Solomon had put up idols. (23:13 – 23:14)

Amazing prophecy that came true in 23:18 of the tomb of the old prophet from Bethel that indeed prophesied that in fact the high places would be destroyed as Josiah accomplished. Follow the verses back to 1 Kings in John Gill’s commentary on this verse:

Check out 23:15: “Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did — with all his heart and with all his sould and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.” Take note that would include David.
Chapter 25 – The Fall of Jerusalem
Jehoiachin Reeleased: verses 27 – 30. This section is a repeat of the ending of the Book of Jeremiah. It makes you wonder how he got special treatment. Chapter 24 notes he too “did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
