10/15/2022 – Day 230 – Daniel 7 – 12 – Too rich in prophecy!: I highly recommend “On the Way to the Future – Daniel’s Visions and the Believer’s Hope” by Ray C. Stedman as a great tool to help sort it out!
Stedman starts out his commentary in Chapter 7 by proposing an apt analogy: For the early astronauts in particular, countdowns were nerve-wracking, “even for astronauts with the ‘right stuff’!” Likewise, “countdowns are never-racking for you and me as we count down the final stages of human history. God has a countdown, and it is ticking steadily toward the most crucial moment since the creation of the world.” And as I have said before, I am convinced that we were born for just this time! (in a word: Humbling , Emmanuel: “God with us!” therefore we are the impregnable remnant body of Christ! )
Indeed, as Stedman emphasizes, Daniels prayer in chapter 9: 4-19 is a model for all of us who are concerned about the decline and decay of our nation. Stedman gives us a helping hand in sorting out “The Rosetta Stone of Biblical Prophecy” in verses: 9:20 through 24. There are numerous connections from The Old Testament to Revelations directly, but the book of Daniel in particular. Our year long Saturdays in this read through the Bible in year has been focused on the prophetic books of the Bible: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentation, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea (completed yesterday in day 244), Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, and finally: Revelation. in the last four weeks.
I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist! No matter the point of concluding this post, it is premature. But such is the nature of His Word!
Soli Deo Gloria!
Your brother in Christ,
Jimmy
