David’s prayer before the whole assembly bears repeating, over and over again:

“Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting, Yours, O Lord is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things, in your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.” 1 Chronicles 29: 10 – 13

Soli Deo Gloria!

Chapter 25: The SIngers

A musical ministry of “prophesying” caught my eye so I thought I would share with you an excerpt from Verses 1 – 7:

“I. Singing the praises of God is here called prophesying (v. 1 – 3), not that all those who were employed in this service were honored with visions of God. He-man indeed is said to be the the king’s seer in the words of God (v. 5); but the psalms they sang were composed by prophets, and many of them were prophetical. In Samuel’s time singing the praises of Go went by the name of prophesying (1 Samuel 10:5 and 1 Samuel 19:20)”

“IV. “The glory and honor of God were principally intended in all the temple-music, whether vocal or instrumental. The intention of the perpetuating of the psalmody in the gospel-church, is to make melody with the heart, in conjunction with the voice, unto the Lord, Ephesians 5:19.”
