Day 010 – June 12, 2020 – Joshua Ch. 6 – 10
Through these chapters yesterday, God delivers the Israelites from Ai, Jericho and the Amorites. In the case of the later , the Amorite Kings are executed. God commands Joshua and the Israelites to “draw back his hand with any of the inhabitants.”
First, let me say I have the utmost respect for Christian pacifist denominations. I amjust not one of them. I recall fondly my visit with my cousin in SW Virginia, joining him in a Wednesday night bible study with a Mennonite community. I might add my cousin visits regularly, even though he is not a pacifist either, having retired a Lt. Col. in theGreen Beret.
Interesting: I would not even suggest that their pacifist positions are unbiblical. They mightnot say the same about me and my cousin, but we are Christian brothers nonetheless, I believe this down to my core. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly recommend the true story of medal of honor winner Desmond Doss at the battle of Okinawa. Desmond was a conscientious objector, a member of the 7th day Adventists, that personally saved 75 colleagues in arms as an Army medic.
So back to Joshua:
Many religious sects and even Christian heretical beliefs profess dualism: Two Gods – one , an angry and even evil God of the Old Testament, and then a God of love in the New Testament. Bunk! God is Immutable; God is omnipotent; God is Holy!… – all Of His attributes: Father , Son, and Holy Spirit – three persons, one God are unfathomable!God desires all to be saved! Indeed God loves us unfathomably, so we have a “free will”.
I read not too long ago that archeologists had discovered that the pagan Canaanites, another mortal enemy of Israel early on, sacrificed their children, and placed their bodies within thewalls of their homes to appease “the gods”. Today in “America”, we kill roughly 1,000,000 babies a year since Roe vs. Wade and sell their body parts. That is roughly 186 abortions per 1,000 live births, recognizing today some of those “abortions” occur at or near full term after a viable and live birth. You tell me: Which society is more evil and uncivilized ?!? What does God say about “When does life begin” Is he not sovereign over all life? I suggest we look at Joshua 1: 5 .
God is gracious! (Psalm 145:8 / Exodus 33:19 / Matthew 5:45). God is infinitely inclined to spare the Guilty! Praise God, did not God the Father send his Son to die for us! But does not Satan get cast into the lake of fire on the triumphant day! Ephesian 6:13 . Soli Deo Gloria! Come Lord Jesus, come!
