How to vote for 2021 Texas Constitutional Amendments

The Texas Constitution allows for ratification of amendments to be put before the people in November of odd numbered years. This practice makes the Texas Constitution one of the longest documents with (I believe) now over 500 amendments. This year that vote takes place on Tuesday, November 2nd, with early voting already underway.

Robert West, author of The Texas Five Star Plan, has done an excellent detailed analysis of the eight propositions. I encourage you to read his article which I have summarized his recommendations below.

PropositionBillWestText
1HJR143Yes“The constitutional amendment authorizing the professional sports team charitable foundations of organizations sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association or the Women ’s Professional Rodeo Association to conduct charitable raffles at rodeo venues.”
2HJR99No“The constitutional amendment authorizing a county to finance the development or redevelopment of transportation or infrastructure in unproductive, underdeveloped, or blighted areas in the county.”
3SJR27No“The constitutional amendment to prohibit this state or a political subdivision of this state from prohibiting or limiting religious services of religious organizations.”
4SJR47No“The constitutional amendment changing the eligibility requirements for a justice of the supreme court, a judge of the court of criminal appeals, a justice of a court of appeals, and a district judge.”
5HJR165No“The constitutional amendment providing additional powers to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct with respect to candidates for judicial office.”
6SJR19No“The constitutional amendment establishing a right for residents of certain facilities to designate an essential caregiver for in-person visitation.”
7HJR125Yes“The constitutional amendment to allow the surviving spouse of a person who is disabled to receive a limitation on the school district ad valorem taxes on the spouse ’s residence homestead if the spouse is 55 years of age or older at the time of the person’s death.”
8SJR 35Yes”The constitutional amendment authorizing the legislature to provide for an exemption from ad valorem taxation of all or part of the market value of the residence homestead of the surviving spouse of a member of the armed services of the United States who is killed or fatally injured in the line of duty.”

Thanks Carl! I will attempt to summarize this succinctly for our brothers: America will not survive beyond the 2nd coming. Nor will the new Republic of Texas. Through the messengers, our founding fathers, we were blessed with a system that mirrors us a a people. We glorify God in all aspects of our life, including government by the people for the people. It is hard painstaking life-long work!; Praise God!
