Messiah’s Deity In Jewish Tradition

Wednesday, March 25, 2026

The New Testament proclaims that Messiah is the Son of God. Orthodox rabbis say this belief is foreign to Judaism. They believe that Messiah will be a special man but not the Son of God. But there was a famous Jewish writer in the first century named Philo Judaeus. He is considered a representative of Jewish thought of the time. He never read the Gospel. Yet he wrote of something called the Logos or the Word. He said, “the Logos is the image of God.” This agrees with John 1:1 that says, “In the beginning was the Logos. The Logos was with God and was God.” Philo goes on to say that the Logos is the mediator between God and creation and is Deity! It matches 1 Timothy 2:5 and Hebrews 1:3 in speaking of Messiah as the exact representation of God. So the Orthodox Jewish world missed Messiah because their idea of who Messiah is was too small. How about you? Whatever you think Messiah is – He’s bigger than that! Open your mind and heart to discover the greatness of Messiah that is beyond anything you know of Him – even now!

What a mystery! Philo Judaeus was not what we would call an Orthodox Jew, or shall we say a ‘spiritual” Jew but he touched upon the Logos of God concept in John, chapter 1. In a similar comparison, the ancient Greeks were pagan but they had the concept of “paideia” of man. We have to be careful not to sink into syncretism, incorporating non-Christian worldviews into the Word of God. But the Greeks were on the right track where perhaps many christians are off the track.

The “paideia” of God equates to Abraham Kuyper’s quote in the early 20th century: “There is not one square inch of creation that Jesus does not proclaim: “Mine!” So in essence, the “paideia” greek concept equates to the command of how we should educate our children: Deuteronomy 6: 7- -9, right behind the Greatest Commandment in verse 5: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength”.

Check out this short excerpt on the Douglas Wilson’s book: “The Paideia of God’:

So, in brief, christian parents were brain washed way back in the 1960s by the Devil and his minions here in America with the expression : “Separation of church and state”. Christian worldview education operates on the principle of Kuyper’s quote above. A worldview is the lens by which we look at the world. Everybody that is breathing air right now has one. In essence, the statement said, separate from your christian worldview. But that is impossible for anyone, be they christian, muslim, buddhist, hindu, or atheist for example. Everything connects with how one answers: “Who is God”, “Who is man” and “what is our relationship to man”.

Well, it was a con job, for the pagan Marxists were able to indoctrinate their worldview in the public gulag of education to our kids, but christians were forbidden to incorporate christian faith into the classroom. So, we wonder why so many of our younger generation today seem so angry. Well, truth doesn’t integrate with them. In fact, as John Dewey proclaimed , pagan spokesman in the early 20th century: “truth is what works?” Ah, but works for whom? That would be for the ruling elite!

Douglas Wilson , over two decades ago, challenged his christian conference participants: “If christians turned over their vacation bible school programs to the Devil and his minions, they wouldn’t take advantage of us would they? Well, we did and they did as well.”

The only thing that blurs the mentality of pagans to the reality is an exaggerated expectation of who the true messiah is.
Coming to understand God deeply and growing a heart for His word brings one to the realization that Jesus is the true messiah. It’s the reason our belief and
    consistence is important. John 14:6
