Here is Matthew Henry’s concise commentary on the entire chapter 17:

I encourage y’all to take a look at last cycle’s post dated “02/18/2022”. (Use the search tool on the date). Included is an Alistair Begg sermon on the chapter in the truthforlife.org library.

As I noted last cycle, this is one of my very favorite chapters in the whole Bible. How is it that we will be in perfect union with the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all of eternity? His love and grace is unfathomable!

How did John know what Jesus prayed to the Father? We know he didn’t, he wrote it by way of the Holy Spirit. All gospel writings are divinely inspired, but other writing is by way of first hand witness. Would you say this chapter would be easier or harder to introduce early on to future christians that you are witnessing to?

Soli Deo Gloria!
