I would highly encourage y’all to go through the commentary from 149:6 through 149:9, the last verse using the John Gill commentary link below. John Gill has a commentary for every verse of the Bible , so you can start with 149:6 and click the little arrow at top to the next verse in succession until you get to the end of chapter.

And here I will share with you just a portion on the two-edged sword of God to be deployed by Christian warriors on the battle against evil:

“….used by the Lord, as his power unto salvation; it is a sword, but only effectual as it is the sword of the Spirit; it is a part of the weapons of our warfare, and it is mighty, but only through God; it can do nothing of itself, but as it is in the hand of another; and it should be in the hands of all the saints in common, as well as in the hands of Gospel ministers, to withstand error, maintain truth, and repel the temptations of Satan. The Targum is,

“the praises of God in their throats, and as twoedged swords in their hands;” “

Remember the prayer acronym “ACTS”? It is Adoration / Confession / Thanksgiving and Supplication”. Particularly in both “A” and “T”, we have more than a lifetime supply in the Psalms , bearing in mind in our year read and prayer through the Bible, we did not spend a single Thursday the past year in anything outside of the book of Psalms. As I noted a few weeks ago, I not only pray Psalm 145 every night to open my prayer, but I am on an ongoing quest to memorize the entire Psalm.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Love,

Jimmy
