05/30/2026 – “The Name in Which Your Are” / Isaiah 12: 1-3; Jeremiah 23: 5-7; 33:16; Matthew 1:21; John 1: 1-2 / Bible Commentary below.
“We were sitting the sandy Palin, in the same place where the teacher had in the past drawn symbols in the sand. But this time he handed me the stick and asked me to draw. So, I did, slowly, as he directed. When I was finished, he told what it was that I inscribed in the sand.
“Each of the symbols you drew,” he said, “is a Hebrew letter. The first is the yud. The second is the shin. The third is the vav. And the last is the ayin. Do you recognize it?” he asked. “It’s how the name Yeshua looks in Hebrew, which was then translated into ‘Jesus.’ “
“Yeshua,” I replied, “Messiah’s real name.”
“Yes,”said the teacher, “but think about it. He wasn’t always Yeshua or Jesus.”
“What do you mean?”
“Before the creation, the Son was with the Father and the Word was with God. He was the Son. And He was the Word. But He wasn’t called Yeshua. In view of eternity, He has only borne the name Yeshua for a very short time. Why was it that He was given that name?
“Because He was to save His people from their sins.”
“Do you remember what Yeshua actually means?”
“God is salvation.”
“Yes. So it wasn’t His inherent name nor His Name from the beginning. In the beginning there was no sin, no darkness, no fall, no crisis, no brokenness, no judgment, no death, no need for salvation. For His Name to be Yeshua from the beginning would make no sense. Think about it. His Name is Yeshua because of us… because of our need to be saved. So every time His Name is spoken, it proclaims His being joined to us. And He chose to bear that name forever. And do you know what else that name means? It means we’re actually in His name. It’s the salvation of you. His name declares your salvation… then it’s all complete.
“It’s as if His Name is a prophecy … a prophecy that comes true when you receive it.”
“His Name is a mystery in which we are part. And when you receive the name, then the name is fulfilled. God becomes your salvation. And all who receive the name.. are already in it… Yeshua.”
The Mission: Ponder this mystery: You are in His Name. He was named for you. You are joined forever. Seek what that means. And live this day in that joining.”

Comment: I am going to share the Jeremiah verses, complete with the important commentary behind it from “The Apologetics Study Bible”. I encourage y’all to also read the Bible verses from Isaiah; Matthew and John that are inclusive to the post title.
Jeremiah 23: 5-7
“The days are coming” — this is; the Lord’s declaration –“when I will raise up a righteous Branch of David. He will reign wisely as king and administer justice and righteousness in the. land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is what He will be named: “The LORD Is Our Righteousness.” The days are coming” — the LORD’s declaration — “when it will no longer be said: As the LORD lives who brought the Israelites from the land of Egypt, but: As the LORD lives, who brought and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other countries where I had banished them. They will dwell once more in their own land.”
(Note: Prophecy and fulfillment (1947!), just a mere 2,500 years separating the two.)
Commentary:
“23:6. Jeremiah prophesied that Judah and Israel would be saved during the days of the Branch, but most of the Jews rejected Christ (Matthew 21: 42-45; Acts 13:46). Paul pointed out that, in fact, the true Israel had been saved (Romans 2:28-29; 11: 1,7; Galatians 3:7; 6:16) in the faithful Christian community. In the NT, several major OT themes — the promised land, the temple, Zion, or Jerusalem, the Messiah — receive a new interpretation, and Israel is another of these themes. It was not given to the OT prophets to see the fulfillment of their words in Christ and His church (see Hebrew 11:39-40). Paul also held out hope that in the future the “full number” of Israel would come to Christ (Romans 11: 11-15, 26; cp. Ezekiel 37).”

Jeremiah 33:16
“In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is what she will be named: “The LORD Is Our Righteousness.”
Commentary: “33:16-18. This passage promises that there will always be a descendant of David on the throne in Israel (see Samuel 7: 12-16) and a descendant of Levi as priest. God’s promises are always conditional in some way, whether or not the condition is stated. Although the original promise of the endurance of David’s dynasty was not contingent upon the obedience of his descendants (2 Samuel 7:14), it was contingent upon there being an entity over which the dynasty would rule. In the same way, the endurance of the Levitical priesthood depended on the existence of an entity in which the priests would serve. Because of the community’s unfaithfulness and resistance to the Lord, both entities ceased to exist. The kingdom came to an end with the exile, and any leadership role for the Davidic dynasty drops from he historical record after Zerubbabel (Haggai 2:23). In the same way, the Levitical priesthood ended with the destruction of the temple in A.D. 70 and the cessation of its ceremonies. This text does not promise an unbroken line from the time of David and Aaron until eternity; it says that “in those days” there will be an enduring king and priest. The time of which Jeremiah spoke need not be a continuation of the time period during which he was prophesying; it may well refer to the time when the faithful community of Israel will be restored. The New Testament sees this taking place in the appearance of Jesus Christ, the King in David’s line (Romans 1:3) whose kingdom will never end. Moreover, Jesus Christ is the High Priest – though in the line of Melchizedek, rather than Levi (Hebrews 7:1-17) — who will never fail to serve.”

Comment: “Once again, I don’t have nearly enough faith to be anything but a Christian!” By the grace of God! We have no way of knowing who is a “future” Christian today. So, we must witness to all the lost, at least to the point where we have to “dust off our sandals” !
