11/21/2021 – “12 Rules for Life List – An Antidote to Chaos” – Jordan Peterson

sorry -it’s youtube. A good discussion here might be to post a rule that you take issue with from a biblical worldview perspective. On rule #5, if Jordan and I were to have a sit down, I might find we don’t so much disagree as it is a disagreement how it is articulated. Instead of : “Don’t make your children do something that will make you dislike them.”; I would say: “Don’t .. that would grieve the Holy Spirit.” (which of course covers God’s Word and the 10 commandments.”) For questions # 11 & #12, I am more confident that my issue is restricted primarily to not resonating with the metaphor he uses in conveying the rule. You’ll know what I mean if and when you get there. I don’t think this is presented in rule priority order, most obviously starting with rule #1, although I get why it is presented. #9 – oh my, we need motivation that drives us to better listening, nowadays perhaps more than ever.

I think we could connect each of these rules with biblical lessons with references. I believe a blog discussion would indeed be fruitful.

SolI Deo Gloria!

Love,

Jimmy

Interesting book. Pray for Peterson. Lord is working on him. I live #12 … always pet a cat when yiu see one. The twelve rules comes from a reddit post of 50-60. He took twelve and made book. New book has twelve more. I haven’t read the new one yet.
He has an extremely high view of the Bible. Just doesn’t believe in God. Hopefully some day. So when he explains the Bible in the book it’s a bit weird how he interprets some of it.
