My inserted replies to the questions – 11/14/2025:

The normal procedure in this WordPress blog would be for me to post a comment to this original post and others would do the same. The reason I am revising the original post is that “read only” users can read it; read only users cannot view comments made by others. I encourage y’all to post. To do that, contact me at semikhah7@protonmail.com. I will need your name and email address. Our username convention is first name followed by last name initial. I will then send you a link to set up your secure password.
If you are unsure about continued participation in the blog, I would be happy to copy and paste a comment post from an email you send me.

“2. Wiersbe says that Ezekiel became a curiosity, a kind of celebrity, because of his unorthodox methods of communication. What qualities of character and personality would it take to communicate the way Ezekiel did?

Obediant and trusting.

3. Putting yourself again in the shoes of the exile, how do you suppose they responded to Ezekiel’s message that God would allow their homeland to be destroyed?

They grieved. But Ezekiel, the messenger, called them to make the best of the situation, keep the faith, and cooperate with the Babylonians. It is worth noting that the people that returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple repented . And though that did not last long across the board, the Jewish people never returned to idolatry again.

4. How do you respond to the concept of God’s turning His face away from His people, which was part of Ezekiel’s message?

We serve an incomprehensible holy God who is so unbelievably patient. The suffering that resulted was necessary for a surviving remnant, as the Lord had promised the prophets including Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.

7. Of all the sins of Israel, why was idolatry the one God spoke of most through the prophets?

All sins result from disregarding the first commandment: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

8. What are some examples of false idols that our culture highly values, which God sees as no better than waste? Money, earthly power, narcissism – worship of self.

9. In discussing ‘the morning has come,’ Wiersbe’s explanation almost sounds like the proverb ‘What goes around comes around.’ How do you find that phrase pertinent to sin in the life of Old Testament Israel and of us today?

The Jewish people had experienced the Lord’s deliverance from pagan idolatrous nations. But yet, that didn’t stop them from following after them.
