11/24/2020 – Day 191 – Leviticus 13 – 15 – Leprosy comparison to sin.
Leviticus 13 through 15 covers the law concerning leprosy. Should we have skipped it? I don’t think so. Just a snippet that piqued my curiosity regarding the law concerning leprous houses, Ch 14: 37-38: “And he (the priest) shall examine the plahue; and indeed if the plague is on the walls of the house with ingrained streaks, greenish or reddish, which appear to be deep in the wall, then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house for seven days.” Colored streaks on the walls?
Here is a connection for us to consider, my Evidence Bible footnote on 13:52: “Leprosy is like sin, in that the sufferer feels no pain and is therefore unaware that his flesh is rottting on his body. In the same way, a sinner is unaware that sin is eating at this flesh and will bring about his death and damnation. This is why, as faithful priests of the Lord, we are to diagnose his disease and pronounce that he is unclean in the sight of God. ‘And on some have compassion, making a distinction,; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.’ (Jude 22:23)”
Check this footnote titled “The Bible’s fascinating facts” under Psalm 38:11:
“If , down through the ages, scriptural principles had been applied during epidemics such as the Black Plague, millions of lives would have been saved. Long before man understood the principles of quarantine, the Bible spoke of the importance of isolating those who had a contagious disease and of disinfecting their houses. See Lev. 13 and 14.”
Soli Deo Gloria!
