I was an accountant-CPA/ financial analyst for most of my almost five decade career. We analyze our potential charitable donees very carefully on an ongoing basis; those last cuts are tough but we must do our best to make every last dollar count in efficiency; accountability and integrity track-record.

We have a letter in the mail today from Stephen Tabor III, CEO informing us that for this month of July, they have up to a $150,000 dollar for dollar match , which allow them to complete the fundraising for Phase 1 of the project described above.

Here are two website trusted tools we continue to be thankful for:

This link goes directly to the “Eight Days of Hope” evaluation. They rated 4star with 94 out of 100 points, with the six points not garnered in the area of 1) document retention; and 2) whistle blower policy . For a smaller charity, this is forgivable. They have a phenomenal 96+% programs expense ratio which is defined as: the % of total expenses a charity spends on programs and services it exists to deliver. So, that means less than 4% for such non-program expenses as fundraising costs and mailing costs, which includes the postage on the letter we just received.

I have an account on the website below. I pull the organizations 501(c)3 annual 990 form they file with the federal government. Essentially, I ask myself: If this were a private corporation, would I invest in them? I review their financials and their answers to internal control questions. I look at what their officers draw in compensation.

Eight Days of Hope went from $3.7 million in 2020 contributions to $ 7.1 million in 2021. The headquarters are in Tupelo, Mississippi. One of their directors is Tim Wildmon, who is President of the AFA (American Family Association), also based in Tupelo. Anybody listen to AFR radio? These folks are inspiring warriors to be around.

The 2021 Form990 listed over 6,000 volunteers to this organization. Free experienced and motivated Christian journeyman “grey under the temples” labor is efficient labor! We became aware of this amazing story when Nancy worked for them as a volunteer, not journeyman but still free lol, in the aftermath of hurricane Harvey in 2017, a hurricane that displaced 1.8mm people.

Stephen promises, and I believe him that every penny of the $300,000 will be used to bring our daughters one step closer to restoration!
